Rams' Steven Jackson finishes with 1,000-yard sea ...

ATLANTA If the numbers that Rams running back Steven Jackson amassed Sunday were replicated throughout a 16-game season, the NFL record book would take a nasty beating. In a stirring 31-27 loss to the playoff-bound Atlanta Falcons, Jackson rushed for 161 yards; that would add up to 2,576 for a full season. He also had 54 receiving yards; that's 864 for a full season and an outlandish total of 3,440 yards from scrimmage. Jackson is the first Rams back to rush for 1,000 yards in four consecutive seasons since Pro Football Hall of Famer Eric Dickerson (1983-86). I look up to Eric Dickerson I look up to a lot of backs that have been a part of this franchise," said Jackson, a fifth-year pro. "We're talking about individual things right now, and that's all great. But at the end of the day, I want to be in the playoffs and I want to be in the Super Bowl, and hopefully win one." The Rams, ranked 27th in the 32-team NFL in rushing coming into the game, piled up a season-high 201 yards on the ground.

Jackson hopes team will add a fullback
10 days ago - bnd.com
They've used tight ends at the position most of the season ST. LOUIS -- A true fullback tops running back Steven Jackson's wish list for next season. Louis Rams need to get their fortunes turned around, Jackson pointed to an improved offensive line and a fullback. "We need Richie Incognito plus three," Jackson said of the offensive line. "We need those big-time guys who are going to plow some things open, and we need a fullback with attitude. "I think if you have a running back like Steven with his stature and speed, and you're going to pay him that type of money, that's the guy you have to build your offense around. You have to match him up front with offensive linemen and you have to have receivers who are going to block and tight ends who are going to block, because that's the guy who you are going to hang your hat on." Rookie could get his first NFL start Rookie John Greco likely will be making his first NFL start this Sunday against the Atlanta Falcons since left guard Jacob Bell was unable to practice all week because of a hamstring injury.

Jackson still on pace for 1,000 yards
18 days ago - bnd.com
ST. LOUIS -- Despite missing four games, St. Louis Rams running back Steven Jackson still could finish with 1,000 rushing yards for the 2008 season. "That's definitely the goal these two games, with a win, of course," Jackson said of reaching 1,000 yards. Jackson feels poised for a big game after rushing for 91 yards on 24 carries Sunday against the Seattle Seahawks. "They checked my head again, and everything was fine." Jackson will be going against a San Francisco 49ers defense that ranks 13th in the NFL against the run. Taking Stills' and Stanley's spots on the Rams' 53-man roster were defensive tackle Antwan Burton, signed off the Kansas City Chiefs' practice squad, and safety David Roach, who was promoted from the Rams' practice squad.

Jackson Rates his Performance as a "C"
22 days ago - stl.scout.com
div id="header" class="pub"> Rams running back Steven Jackson talked after another loss Sunday about the game, on "learning how to win" games, on losing close games, and on his personal performance. (On todays game) Since Ive been here in this organization and playing the Seattle Seahawks , its kind of one of those classic games where you know whoever has the ball last probably is pretty much going to win the game. We jumped on them early but something in the back of my mind told me that they were going to make some great adjustments and make a game out of it and thats exactly what they did. We get up on a team- have a great first half or vice versa and have a great second half. (On losing close games) (Its tougher to lose) tight ones. If you lose a blow-out you just have to tip your hat to that team saying you know what, they just really out-played us today but in a tight game like this one where you feel like we kind of did everything we could do when we wanted and still come out with a loss- these are the tough ones that we try to figure out what it is thats preventing us from putting teams away. I felt like I had a great first half but I feel the game in general in the second half didnt match-up to how we started off.

Jim Haslett and Steven Jackson are Fine, Ready to Concentrate on Playoff R ...
32 days ago - nfl.fanhouse.com
Earlier in the week in camp Ram, there was slight a tiff between Coach Jim Haslett and his star running back, Steven Jackson . It was evident the tension stemmed from a preseason holdout by Jackson, and Jackson was seemingly growing tired of hearing insinuations that his holdout meant he wasn't conditioned as well as he should have been for this season. Now, a few days later, the Rams' two biggest names seem to have put this behind them and they are ready to focus on steering this stellar 2-10 ship to a successful conclusion. He's a good guy, works hard, and we're just glad to have him back and ready to go." Said Jackson: "Me and Coach Haslett, we're good. A confirmation email will be sent to you after submitting.
