5.    Milton Bradley for $10MM a year

No further comment. And, he wanted to play in the field full-time (which is spectacularly stupid for him). I think the Royals would have had to offer much, much more in order to get him, even if they promised to play him in the field half the time. The immoderate moderator chicago is pretty intense as a baseball media town maybe not NY or BOS, but certainly tougher than just about any market west of philadelphia this could get interesting that wont matter If he stays healthy (big if), he could push the Cubs over the top, easy Bringing you more-or-less replacement level analysis and commentary since sometime in 2008. half a season of MIlton Bradley is usually as good as an above average player. the Phillies new GM is a moron so far I guess the answer to what will happen now that Bavasi is gone. The immoderate moderator Did you read that thing in one of JoPos recent columns, though, about how hed actually heard from a decent of other people in the game that that really is the rap on Dunn.

9.    I Pick Apart Trey Hillman's Proposed 2009 Lineup

Navigation: Jump to content areas: Secondary Sidebar: Links to Recent Stories, FanPosts and FanShots I Pick Apart Trey Hillman's Proposed 2009 Lineup I understand the difference between the best assembled and worst assembled lineups for any group of nine players is but a few dozen runs, but is the lineup below seriously the best Trey Hillman can conjure up for the 2009 season. Im going to nitpick what I feel is incorrect about the lineup, and how I feel our manager is slightly misguided in his thinking. I think he understands the importance of OBP, but doesn't exactly know which old school statistics not to implement.Keep in mind Hillman's original reveal of a likely 2009 lineup is rather dated , but it manifested itself once again in Dick Kaegel's looking forward of (to?) 2009. 1. Because of his negative career WPA, which would almost certainly be anti-progressive in the leadoff spot of a lineup seeking to vastly improve from its paltry 691-run performance in 2009. However, that total doesn't resemble his balmy yearly totals (122 SOPS+), and he was batting mostly between two of the team OBP leaders for last year, Dave DeJesus and Alex Gordon. The team would serve itself better placing either Jacobs, Gordon, or Butler in this role, at the very least.

KC hoping to capitalize on strong '08 finish this season KANSAS CITY -- Maybe too much was made of it. Could the Royals hum a few more bars in 2009. Manager Trey Hillman's Royals stumbled through a 7-20 August and appeared headed for a disastrous fifth straight last-place finish. Who would have expected an 18-8 September and an escape from the cellar. "Everybody knows August was really gut-wrenching," Hillman said, "because there just weren't a lot of wins. "I was really pleased, impressed and proud of the way the guys continued to play down the stretch. He should get help from newcomers Coco Crisp, the switch-hitting and speedy center fielder, and Mike Jacobs, the lefty-swinging cruncher who'll play first base.

Navigation: Jump to content areas: Secondary Sidebar: Links to Recent Stories, FanPosts and FanShots Northwestern's bowl losing streak continues. No bowl wins since 1949. Despite the huge number of NU alumni in the Chicago sports media, I never heard about this streak when I lived on the fringes of Chicagoland on local TV and radio. Then again, Northwestern has also, amazingly, never made the NCAA Tournament in men's basketball either. Weirdly, through totally un-related circumstances, I attended NU's most recent loss, a 2005 50-38 shootout loss to UCLA in the Sun Bowl. A game in which Northwestern had an early 22-0 lead after multiple defensive touchdowns. for an account to participate.

Kansas City Royals: History

In 1981, a players' strike in the middle of the season forced the season to be split into two halves. Kansas City won the division in the second half, but lost the division playoff to the Athletics. The Royals finished three games under .500 and had only the fourth best record in the division when considering the entire se
