Virginia Tech students invited to Saturday's men's basketball game against Virginia The Virginia Tech men's basketball team hosts the first of three consecutive home games this Saturday when Tech battles in-state rival Virginia at 4 p.m. The Hokies also host Richmond on Wednesday, January 14th at 7 p.m. With these three games being played over student break, the possibility exists that not all Virginia Tech students that hold tickets to the games will attend. With that in mind, and in an effort to fill Cassell Coliseum, the athletics department will admit those Virginia Tech students without a ticket to each of these three games to fill any unoccupied seat in the student section. Due to the uncertainty of the exact number of student ticket holders which will attend the games, and how many students without a ticket will show up at the games, there is no guarantee that all students without a ticket will be admitted. Students without a game ticket will be required to show their Virginia Tech school ID, and should use the entrances on the East side of Cassell Coliseum. Public season ticket holders who are unable to attend can also share their tickets with other Hokie fans or local charities online through Hokie Share, the athletics departments new ticketing transfer program for season ticket holders.

Hokies drop ACC opener at Duke
1 day ago - hokiesports.com
DURHAM, N.C Two Duke scoring spurts, one in each half, turned out to be the Virginia Tech's undoing, as the Hokies fell to the No. 5 Blue Devils 69-44 at Cameron Indoor Stadium on Sunday night in the ACC opener for both teams. With the loss, Tech fell to 9-5 overall on the season, 0-1 in the ACC. The Hokies fell behind 11-0 right from the tip, misfiring on their first eight shots from the floor, and they didn't hit their first field goal until the 13:30 mark of the first half. The Hokies, however, gradually got back into it, pecking away until they cut the Duke lead to eight at the break (39-31) and to four when Cheick Diakite 's basket made the score 39-35 with 17:30 remaining in the game. Tech hit just four field goals the rest of the game, and overall, the Hokies scored just 13 points in the second half, attributing much of that to Duke's defense. He was the lone Hokie in double figures.

Duke Wins ACC Opener Over Virginia Tech
2 days ago - goduke.com
They held the Hokies to 13 points in the second half and outscored them 30-9 over the final 17 minutes of the game. Malcolm Delaney scored 12 points to lead Virginia Tech (9-5, 0-1). Vassallo was held to seven points 12 below his average and didn't score on 0-of-2 shooting in the second half. The Hokies shot 36.7 percent and committed 18 turnovers. They were denied their second straight victory at Cameron Indoor Stadium and their first win against a nationally ranked team since their overtime victory two years ago at then-No. 4 North Carolina. Singler finished 7-of-11 from the field and almost single-handedly made sure the Blue Devils wouldn't need any Sean Dockery-like heroics to take care of the Hokies this time, scoring nine points and dishing out two nifty no-look passes that led to layups during the game-breaking run that put Duke up by 20 points to stay.
